The district of Chorweiler is located on the northern outskirts of Cologne. The residential area was built in the 1970s as a self-sufficient planned city and is characterised by multi-storey buildings and high-rise blocks.
I spent over a year again and again days in Chorweiler, exploring the impact of the place. My intention was to use photography to reflect my own movement in this estate, which is controlled by its paths and squares. It was also important to me to depict the perception of the tall buildings without showing them head-on in their full height. This selection of photographs was created from a large number of 35mm films. Through the order I chose, I created a fictional path through the settlement and was thus able to reflect the rhythm of density and openness that I perceived.
